Helen Vereker Taster Sessions
This gives you the opportunity to see if it is the sort of choir you would like to get involved in without signing up.
It is a relaxed, informal session and new people are always made to feel very welcome, (even if you have never sung in a choir before.
Sessions are just under 2 hours with a break for a drink and a chat.
You will meet other choir members and will be put into a group who will make you feel welcome, help you along with the evening’s songs and will be able to answer any questions you may have.
It is natural to feel nervous or apprehensive about coming along. Some of you may have never sung before, or not sung for a very long time. You may feel that you are not very good at singing, or you don’t have a lot of confidence.
You don’t have to audition, and you don’t have to be a good singer. We will never single you out or make you sing by yourself. You don’t have to be able to read music. We provide lyric sheets for the evening.
All we ask is that you join in and have fun and we would like to think that by the end of the evening you will have enjoyed yourself.
The singers know a lot of songs and they sing them really well. Don’t feel that you couldn’t sing as good as them. Remember some of the members have been coming many years, and have practiced these songs many, (…many, many) times. They started where you are starting, and they have gradually got to know their part. You will be surprised that after a few sessions, how quickly you will have remembered how a particular song goes.
We do perform, and regularly practice for concerts. You will be guided along by your group, but we never expect you to perform until you feel that you would like to.
Should you like what we do and you’d like to get involved, all we ask is that you attend as often as you can and join in the fun.
Feel free to ask questions, Helen and choir members will be happy to help you.
If you think you would like to try us, why not book a free taster session by filling out the form below and we will look forward to seeing you there.
We meet at the Cider Museum every Monday evening (except Bank Holidays) at 7.15pm.
